The new smoke effects are awesome if a little laggy when zoomed in, depending on your rigthe volley fire looks and sounds great, and cannons sound like they pack a punch now.
Battlefield visuals and audio is overhauled, making for a completely new atmosphere. It adds hundreds of new and unique units. It adds tons of new factions, from Greece to the Italian States to Hannover and more, not to mention all those you can unlock via going to 'Custom' options, like Azerbaijan and the Barbary States. Vanilla isn't that good anyway, but Darthmod changes everything. But Darthmod really is great, to the point that I can't go back to vanilla. But for historical accuracy and sheer glorious uniformage, IS is the way to go. Progress has been VERY slow for some time, though, so if you don't like bugs you should look elsewhere. If I had to choose one for Empire: Total Warwhich one? What's the difference between them? Darthmod seems to be getting most of the attention but that could be for various reasons other than content.
