Just to be safe I cloned the rune type row from the vanilla itemtype.txt again although it was just the same.
Okay in the creation of my new rune type, did I do something to damage the old looks fine. Shield/ral/ort/tal thing again and guess what happened? Gemmed freakin piece of crap. Hmmm.maybe it didn't regenerate the BIN or leted those. What the.ĭeleted the runes.txt file completely and did the 3 socket shield/ral/ort/tal thing again. So I extracted runes.txt out of patch_d2.mpq again (leaving it alone btw) and thought I'd start small by tweaking the 2 cube recipes to produce a 3 socket kite shield and Ral, Ort and Tal. Put the runes in in order and got rewarded with a gemmed sword bearing the rune properties. I took ancient's pledge, gave it a new name, had it require new rune 1 and 2 then set the types to armo and weap for testing. I wrote a cube recipe to kick out a 2 socket shortsword and another to make the two runes needed. I've got a bunch of new rune words ready to add so I figured I'd create a dummy one with the new runes to see what happens. They need to be either White/Grey text normal items.Įdit: Here’s a video giving some great tips/info and more about Runewords in Diablo 2.Okay this makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever but I'll see if anyone has a clue where to even look. Please do a bit of research before socketing or attempting to make these Runewords though because you can mess them up if you put them in in the wrong order/item. Tip #3: You could also make a Spirit which is another Runeword from the Act 5, first quest by socketing a Crystal Sword to have 4 open slots. Tip #2: If you can get through Act 4 with just the Stealth Runeword armor, the second quest in Act 5 is literally the 3 runes you need for Ancient’s Pledge so don’t sweat it.
Tip: you can turn 3 Ral runes in to an Ort rune if you can’t find an Ort rune naturally in Act 4. If you’re unsure on how to make Runewords, search for videos on YouTube and check out Maxroll.gg for a literal step by step guide on how to assemble your build. You can buy a 3 socketed Kite Shield in Normal Act 2 and if you’ve been doing Countess runs, you should have acquired enough to probably make this. This Runeword provides some really solid survivability. You can get the 2 socketed armor from Charsi in Act 1 Normal. Try to get Stealth (Tal + Eth) and Ancients Pledge (Ral + Ort + Tal) shield.
Farm the Countess in the Forgotten Tower by taking the Black Marsh Waypoint for Runes.
